Getting your Grand Rapids home ready to sell this spring starts with two things. Here's what they are and why they work.
I get asked this all the time. What are the two things you should do to get your house ready to sell? Right now, as we head into spring, my answer is pretty straightforward.
Here’s where I tell every seller to start.
1. Curb appeal. Make sure your home looks good from the outside. That’s the first thing a buyer sees, and first impressions set the tone for everything that follows. Get the lawn cut, put down fresh mulch, and make sure the exterior looks clean and well-maintained. It doesn’t have to be a major project, but it has to look like someone cares about this home.
2. Clean it and make it smell good. This one sounds simple, and it is, but it makes a bigger difference than most sellers realize. A house that’s super duper clean and smells fresh tells a buyer this home has been taken care of. A house that’s cluttered or has an odor tells them the opposite, no matter how nice the bones are. Get it spotless before anyone walks through.
“Finding your home value in 2026 means looking at the market, the property, and similar homes that have sold.”
That’s it. Those are the two things I tell every seller to start with. You don’t need a full renovation to get your house market-ready. You need curb appeal and a clean, fresh interior.
If you want more specific guidance, give me a call. I’ll come out, take a look at your home, and give you a list of exactly what to do before you put it on the market. I can even bring a dumpster if you need to clean the place out. And if you’d rather skip all of that, I can sell your house as-is for cash too.
