Unpacking this new emerging trend in the market: multigenerational living.

As our population ages, the demand for multigenerational homes is growing. In fact, in 2021, 14% of all home purchases were for multigenerational homes. This type of living situation can take many forms, including parents moving in with their children, children moving in with their parents, or hiring a live-in caregiver for an elderly family member.

Recently, I had the pleasure of helping a family make the move to a multigenerational home. They wanted to purchase a bigger home, but it was expensive, and they needed to sell two homes to make it happen. We were able to get in touch with a great lender who was able to bridge the financial gap, and we were able to put it all together. This week, we are closing on the last house, and the family is thrilled to be starting their new life together.

Finding the right home for a multigenerational family can be a challenge. When my clients first came to me, they had been looking for a very long time. They had specific needs and preferences and had not found a realtor who understood their situation. With 30 years of experience, I have encountered countless scenarios, and I was able to connect them with a great lender who helped make their dream home a reality.

If you or someone you know is considering a multigenerational living situation, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I understand the unique challenges and benefits of this type of living arrangement and would be happy to help you find the perfect home for your family.
